My Students

My students are the most resilient 5th graders from a Title I school in Oregon. They receive 100% free breakfast and lunch each day. Many come from high-poverty homes where resources are limited. Meeting their literacy needs is crucial this school year! Meeting their Social and Emotional needs is crucial this school year as well!

My 5th grade Oregon students are tough, creative, and hard working!

Many students are not able to be celebrated in a big way due to financial issues. We want them to feel as special as ever on their important day of birth! Through the uncertainty of this school year, I would love for this to be something for my students to feel secure in! That we love them and they deserve to be celebrated!

Thank you for this opportunity to celebrate my students in this hectic 2021-2022 school year!

My Project

Birthdays are one of the best days of the year! Children love to feel special on their special day! With COVID-19 restrictions, we are not allowed to celebrate birthdays in the classroom like before! No outside treats, drinks, or parties.

One way I would love to recognize my 5th graders is by having a supply of books that they could choose as their "gift" from the class on their special day!

5th graders LOVE to read and they love to have CHOICE in their independent reading!

I have chosen in groups of 3 in case friends want to buddy up and read together! Sharing a book is a huge motivator in my class! They love to take turns reading with each other, quizzing each other, then taking an AR test to see what they comprehended. Thank you for celebrating my Oregon 5th graders!!
