My students need a nice, big, colorful, comfy rug.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students come in class each morning with big and wonderful smiles on their faces ready to start the day. Most of them have had a long bus ride and want to get out of their wheelchairs to get comfortable and interact safely with other students.
I have a bunch of wonderful and amazing students.
They have many physical challenges but nothing stops them or dampens their spirits. I teach severe and profoundly intellectual delayed students. My school does what it can as far as funding goes but, there is never enough money. I would describe my school as a caring and nurturing environment. My coworkers and other students fully embrace my students and visit them often. My students love and enjoy school.
My students need a big, colorful, comfy rug. Many of my students are in wheelchairs or are sensory seekers. As of this moment we don't have a decent rug therefore my class can't enjoy getting out of their wheelchairs and play on the floor with the ambulatory students The tiled floor is cold and hard and not very comfortable for them. They need an extra place to get a break from a confining wheelchair. Having a classroom carpet for our meeting area will not only make the students happy and comfortable, the carpet will represent a safe haven where we come to learn and share meaningful lessons. My students that are ambulatory would have to sit on a old, dirty, small carpet as we conducted our Morning meeting which lasted for 30 minutes or more. Most of my students are nonverbal. My sensory seeking students will get restless and hate to sit in wooden chairs. The addition of a carpet will make our Morning meetings more comfy. We would also now have a place for read aloud or i leisure time.
Your generous donations will allow me to provide this important tool for the students who need it the most.
My goal as a teacher is to see EVERY student succeed in my class and be as comfortable as possible. Your donation can help make this happen. Thank you!
