My Project

Hello!

My name is Jaime Ashby and I’m a 7th-grade ELA teacher who teaches a majority of English learning and multilingual students.

This project is dedicated to my students and encapsulates the necessary materials to create and build literary worlds that will become tangible for years to come. The materials listed include journals for personal diary exit tickets for all my students; binders and folders for work to do and work to turn in; and gel pens, paper, and sticky notes for annotations because I want my children to harken their attention to annotation and the fine details in their literary works. Also, classroom hygiene supplies and of course writing supplies to give them the tools to actually WRITE and see their words and thoughts on paper. Even though this is my 3rd year teaching, this will be my first time having my own classroom that I can decorate, curate, and make a safe space for learning and a safe space for open discussions that will allow for further analysis about their worlds and lives around them. I absolutely love that I get to instruct such a diverse learning group with a plethora of already lived experiences that have shaped their language and literary landscapes. I want my classroom to be the bridge and the next destination on their language and literary journeys.
