My Students
"Do you really like teaching 6th grade?" This is the question I get when people find out I am a teacher. I always answer, "Absolutely!!" I have taught various other grades and 6th graders are by far my favorite.
My 6th grade students live in a small town in rural West Virginia.
Majority of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch and receive backpack snacks for the weekend. With our local plants closing the poverty level has gone up and our students have been greatly affected. Even though their home life has changed they still come to me everyday with excitement to learn.
My Project
This Cricut and other materials will be used different ways in my classroom. I will be able to make the classroom a warm environment that my students will be proud of. Classroom environment plays an important role in how students feel about school. Students feel more excited about learning if the room is set up properly. I love my students and want them to feel safe and appreciated while they are with me.
I will also be able to increase rigor within my classroom by using this machine.
I will be able to make different activities to challenge my students. My students are required to complete a Science, Social Studies, or Reading Fair project every year. They can utilize this machine to aid them with their projects. They will be able to learn how to use the Design Space computer program to create projects using different mediums such as vinyl, paper, foil, etc. Who knows, this could lead a student to explore graphic design. I am truly excited to see how this machine will change my classroom environment and more importantly, the students.
