6th Grade Ready to Roll Music Literacy Is the Goal
Help me give my students the ability to utilize a MacBook computer to create their own literacy video and compose their own music. By using the program Garage Band and iMovie, their creativity will fuse literacy/writing.
My students are amazing learners. Each one has their own extraordinary way of learning. My students come from different cultural backgrounds (English learners), with various social-emotional needs, as well as diverse learners (special need students). As a classroom/team, we work extremely well together, with emphasis placed on respect and empathy for each other. My students are a team of critical thinkers and through various learning modalities, they are able to accomplish their team tasks and their individual goals. They work hard together, which is why they are able to persevere and overcome social emotional obstacles in order to further develop their self-esteem, which sets a conducive learning environment.
My students are special to me; I love how each one has their own unique way of learning, which is why we as a team are extremely motivated to learn.
They are creative and active learners, which leads to engaging learning experiences. Their respect for each other contributes to their learning since they, with my guidance, have meaningful discussions during classroom activities. This informs me that this school year, they have and will continue to develop their character, which can further build their social emotional skills within our multicultural society.
The MacBook along with the programs Garage Band and iMovie will make an immense difference with my 6th grade students due to the flexibility it offers to fuse writing. This type of expressive writing will help my students combine musical rhythmic beats with video elements. It will also make a difference since it will engage my students in further developing their writing skills by focusing on visual literacy. In addition, the MacBook is a form of digital literacy since it has access to video recordings, composing music and video imaging tools that assist the writing instruction for all of my students and motivate students with cognitive or physical disabilities as well as our English learners.
