My Students

My 6th grade classes are full of life and energy. We are located in a rural community just outside of Syracuse, NY. We have a diverse group of students from various backgrounds who have all come together to create a wonderful environment to be a part of.

The 6th graders have dived head first into our project and have already spent many weeks gathering information and materials on their numerous topics.

They have all chosen a topic that truly interests them. Some students have chosen a famous figure that inspires them because of their similar backgrounds and others have chosen a historical topic that is of high interest to them.

My Project

The materials will be used by the students to create presentation boards that they will enter into a National History Day competition. Their first step is to display their boards in front of our school, and then they will enter them into a local BOCES competition. If any of the student's presentations are chosen as winners, they will then move on to the state level competition!

My students have been working hard researching and developing ideas for this year's theme: Breaking Barriers.

They have all come up with wonderful ideas ranging from the Great Wall of China to Olympic Gymnast Gabby Douglas. With the students working so hard, it would be wonderful for them to have some of the supplies they need to create their projects without having them have to worry about paying for them.
