Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 5th grade students are diverse in their culture, their individual needs and their abilities. I am so proud of the way they can answer questions and perform on their academic tasks.

I would like to find a way to build onto their academic and social emotional aspects as developing children.

Time and time again they show me that they would like to extend their learning beyond the textbook by learning music. In particular, students who are interested will learn how to play the ukulele.

My Project

The ukulele's requested for this project will be put to great use with students who will thoroughly enjoy playing them. The concert size ukuleles are the perfect size for 5th graders to use and the extra equipment included in the packages will keep students engaged in tuning and caring for their instrument.

Students will participate in Orff Shulwerk delivered lessons on their concert ukuleles.

Their parents will enjoy coming to school to watch their children shine like stars as they play their instruments. This project will enable students who otherwise would not have the opportunity to play ukulele particularly now that many schools are closed. We are open and we serve our students online and in person.
