We started the school year by taking time to learn how to organize our desks, and they have done a great job keeping them organized. This might seem like a small thing, but if people knew how much class time was squandered finding materials as simple as erasers and pencils, they would be surprised. We have used the fidgets to help keep everyone focused and let some of the excited energy out in a positive way. Students have class sensory equipment to use to keep their hands busy while learning. Also students have sensory tools to use when they need to take a break.\r\n\r\nSometimes students are very hyper and they could use the sensory tools to keep their hands busy while they listen to a story or participate in a class lesson. The sensory tools enable students to keep their hand sensors busy while their brain searches for new learning material. The feature of microscopes has brought excitement to our science time. Students are engaged and thrilled to use the microscopes as a part of studying natural phenomenon. Students have looked at leaves, objects found in dirt and live mealworms. This experience with the hand held microscopes has also helped my students to be be young responsible scientist. Students have a reason to take care of the equipment, use it successfully and communicate verbally and in writing about what they have seen with this tool.\r\n\r\nStudents are also able to make a connection to a standard electric microscope and have an appreciation for using bigger equipment. Now my class has experience using different types of scientific instruments fo ryears to come. The \"Smart Art\" Festival is an exciting event at an official Performing Arts Venue in Escondido.
