My Project

My 4th and 5th-grade students are full of imagination, and they’re ready for a project that lets them build, express, and explore who they are. In this project, students will design and create their own unique “Pipe Cleaner People” using colorful pipe cleaners, craft supplies, and creativity. These handcrafted characters will serve as the foundation for original storytelling, character development, and dramatic exploration.

As students bring their figures to life, they’ll be encouraged to think deeply about personality traits, emotions, relationships, and backstories.

Through guided writing prompts and group discussions, they’ll write creative narratives, develop dialogue, and even act out scenes with their characters. This project integrates visual arts, literacy, and social-emotional learning, giving students a powerful and meaningful way to express themselves while practicing key academic skills.

By supporting this project, you’re helping students build more than just pipe cleaner figures—you’re giving them the tools to build confidence, empathy, communication skills, and a lifelong love for storytelling.
