4K Needs Good Rest for Success!

Help me give my students stackable sleeping cots for 4K rest time! Young children need a safe, healthy sleeping space to recharge and be successful in school!

My Students

I teach pre-kindergarten in a Title I school in South Carolina. For many of my students 4K is their first school experience. This year 4K students are attending school for a full day! My students come from diverse backgrounds and learning experiences. We work and grow together as a family throughout the year. My favorite part of teaching 4K is their affection for each other and the adults that teach them. They are eager to please and want to do their best! In our classroom we work to build community by growing and learning through our shared experiences and success! I love the energy and enthusiasm my students bring to school each day! They are ready to learn and experience new things. They work hard to become independent and to do things for themselves! Together we celebrate our accomplishments!

My Project

This year my 4K class is attending school for a full day! This is a new experience for us all. The students arrive very early and work hard all day learning and playing together. Young children need a period of rest during the day to be successful learners!

We have a rest time as part of our 4K schedule and we are in need of stackable sleeping cots to ensure that students have a safe, comfortable and healthy place to sleep and restore their bodies during the day.

Currently we are using one inch foam mats that lay on the cold floor. They are not durable or comfortable and are hard to keep clean. I would like to provide my students with cots that sit above the floor and keeps them off the dirt and germs that collect there during our busy day. These cots can also be easily cleaned to prevent the spread of infection which is especially important with young children during this time of Covid and flu season!

The stackable cots are space saving, durable and can be used for many years to come. The cots fit a crib sheet and the students will learn how to put on and take off their sheets on their own which will build their independence and confidence in themselves.

It is important for young children to rest during their busy school day to recharge their bodies and minds. They are successful when they are rested and are able to be cooperative, independent learners. Thank you for investing in my student's health, safety and rest for success!
