My third graders are living in a technologically savvy world...until they come to my classroom. My students need technology integrated into their classroom on a daily basis. A mini iPad would provide a stimulating, exciting hands-on learning experience for students.
I teach 30 energetic third graders who love to learn and be challenged.
They are a diverse group, both culturally and socio-economically. Their learning styles vary, but they all share a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn. I want my students to love learning and to be ready to meet the challenges of a 21 century education. They are at a disadvantage to many of their peers if they do not experience technology frequently in their school curriculum. iPads in the classroom will help bring technology to third graders at my school. We have two classes of third grade and I collaborate well with the other third grade teacher. We plan to work together to create innovate lessons and find engaging apps to use with our classes. All third graders at my school will use this mini iPad throughout the year.
My Project
By not having enough technology access, my students are missing a vital component of future success. With the new CORE standards there is a big emphasis on speaking and presenting. The iPads allow the students to record each other's presentations and then watch them back and critique themselves. There are also many educational apps available which not only build math fluency, but also enhance the students' reading and comprehension skills. Educational apps often allow many self-check opportunities and respond as the student is using it, re-teaching concepts that they are missing or continuing on to more challenging work. There are many apps which will engage my students and support the common core, promoting higher level thinking and allowing students to create and apply their understanding of what they are learning. The case will ensure that we can use our valuable mini iPad for many years.

It opens up new ways of instruction and innovative teaching methods. It accommodates all learning styles, is easy to use, and highly engaging. There are SO MANY possibilities for engaging students with iPads. Thank you for your help in making technology an integral part of my classroom.
