My students need filament for our 3D printer. There are some great colors, but especially the glow in the dark and metallic filament will create high engagement as students take on a new way of coding.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
More than 100 students come into my STEM classroom ready to explore every day. Energy is high as they work together to make the community and world a better place. As a STEM teacher, I want every student to have the opportunity to bring their designs to life.
I plan projects to learn about the world and the amazing things they will be able to do as they become designers and thinkers.
Through creative problem solving and creation, they will make our world a better place.
My Project
STEM careers are growing, and all students need to be prepared to choose one. This is the first year of STEM education at the school. One of the projects I have planned is teaching students to look for a problem, imagine and design a solution and then create a prototype. To make sure that my students have access to relevant and high quality tools, I have chosen 3D printing to combine computer coding into a tangible project that they can take home.
Imagine their pride when these 4th and 5th grade students see themselves as 3D designers.
Having a variety of filament to choose from will help them personalize their creations.
