My Students

Students at our school are highly motivated learners. They are curious, creative, and action-oriented critical thinkers. They want to be successful and prepare for some of the best future careers. In my classroom, students are learning how to create technology in addition to using it. They are truly engaged in learning new programming languages, such as C#, Python, and building electronics.

Students are inspired to become innovators.

We are Title 1 school meaning the majority of our students come from low-income homes. Our diverse student body represents more than 55% of English Language Learners and over 80% of our students receive free lunch and breakfast. Our community is very diverse in culture and language background. Demographically our population is 68% Asian, 12% Hispanic, 8% White, and 4% African American, and 16% other.

My Project

3D printers and design software inspire creativity and imagination at every grade level. Middle school students can use Tinkercad, Fusion, and Blender to design and create their formations.

In fact, the possibilities of what students can create through 3D printing are infinite; it’s remarkable how students are truly engaged and motivated to learn new technologies.

Our school participated in the Future Trailblazer Challenge, a worldwide maker contest organized and sponsored by Salesforce that aims to inspire a diverse set of young innovators to use technology as a positive force for change. In the course of the Future Trailblazer Challenge, my students learned about the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) by engaging in active problem solving of real-world problems and raising awareness for a sustainable future. Students used the latest developed technology such as 3D design and printing, microbits, and Arduino to create unique solutions for their vision for sustainable development.

The Challenge inspired my students to continue learning and designing. They are looking forward to using this high quality multipurpose 3D printer in our classroom as they are developing their new creations.

3D design and printing are helping to inspire a diverse generation of STEM learners to use technology as a positive force for change.
