Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school is a very diverse population where about thirty percent of the student body is African American, Caucasian, and Hispanic. All students are bused to school. All the students are eligible for free lunch. I have been a science teacher for over twenty years. I came to our school to teach STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering Art, and Math) and finally, I teach beyond the school district curriculum.

I am looking for funds to purchase a class set (5) 3D printers.

My Project

I teach PLTW (Project Lead the Way) Design and Modeling class. Using the Engineering Design Process, students learn to work in groups to design, build and test their own invention or innovation.

Student learn how to draw like an engineer.

They learn how to draw both isometric and multi-view drawings . Student learn how to use the program CAD (Computer Aid Design) to design their ideas on the computer. Since the pandemic, we have been exclusive learning to do 3d drawings online. Unfortunately , I only have one 3D printer and can not print their designs . Some students have sent their designs to a private contractor at their own expense, and printed their design and had them sent to themselves. Many student just can not afford to spend that kind of money. I wish to have a class set of 3d printers to print their designs and have the students pick up their creations or have them mail to their homes.
