Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This 2023-24 school year is my second year as the art teacher and my eleventh year teaching. I am also an ATPE member in Texas, advocating for student needs. I have lots of basic art supplies like pencils, colored pencils, crayons, markers, watercolors, tempera paints, paintbrushes, etc. My students can produce art but they will grow significantly by having extra materials that can make their artwork grow in 3D! These materials can create different styles of art and can expand their knowledge. Some of the materials I am asking for to successfully implement art on our campus are: foam to create printmaking as well as paint trays and clay. My vision is that they can have these materials as an option to create their art, just like we have our other supplies available in the classroom. They will be able to take ownership of growing our art program and our classroom on campus.

My students will be able to also create new types of art using different elements and principles of art and express new ideas with new mediums as artists.

If I can start incorporating more materials for our projects in art, students will be able to have more opportunities to create more experiences and depth in their realm of art. It will give students a chance to become well versed in an area of art they might not have the background in today.
