My Project

School budgets are even more bleak than usual for the next school year and while dreams of field trips to other states have always been crazy, now even field trips nearby have become out of our budget. Getting 2 busses to take kids on a ferry to a nearby Japanese Internment Memorial? Just not going to happen. There are also places that just aren't possible to take a rowdy group of 4th graders to, like the inside of small shops in the international district!

I do, however, have the ability to take my students there through VR if I can just get the 360° images of these places.

I love spending my summer traveling to places that enhance my curriculum so that I have stories to share with my students that are interesting and relate what we are studying to their lives right now. If I were able to create virtual tours of these places as I visit them I would be able to immerse my students in virtual field trips to places such as the Minidoka Internment Camp, Bainbridge Island Exclusion Memorial, Mt. Rainier, the Hoh Rainforest, the ofrendas at the Seattle Center, and so many more places!

Obviously, this isn't just about me -- I want the students to have their hands on this technology as well. Students would be able to use this technology to create really amazing virtual field trips of their own -- imagine creating a diorama - but in virtual reality! Students could so easily share their work in 3 dimensions with their families, classmates, and our school!

This would be such an amazing companion to the virtual reality set we received through previous donations and would enhance our curriculum in so many ways. Please consider donating to this engaging next step!
