My Students

My students love to read novels. I often spend about four weeks out of every semester teaching our weekly reading skills through novels. The students LOVE it! Their scores soar and it makes for a happy teacher.

Our school is a Title I school located in Southeast Alabama.

My students are my kids! Well, not by birth, but I love them just the same. They have a desire to learn in many different capacities. The are sweet, intelligent, and caring. They are my favorite part of my classroom. Students with advanced skills should be given every opportunity to learn as much as they can on a daily basis.

My Project

I am requesting 30 copies of Charlotte's Web. The students will utilize these books by choral reading to each other. They will also reference back to the book to complete many graphic organizers based on theme, plot, and character traits. They love to read to each other while sitting on the pillows in our Reading Center with the Medusa Lamp supplying the light for them to read. These novels all encourage great character skills along with providing the challenging and rigorous curriculum these students deserve.

Students with above average IQ's need to be encouraged to work at higher levels of achievement.

Often times, in a school with moderate to high levels of poverty, we lack the resources needed to meet their needs. By funding this project, you will be an agent of change in our community. Students with advanced skills should be given every opportunity to learn as much as they can on a daily basis. These novels all encourage great character building skills that are important at this age.
