We are a Title I school located in an urban neighborhood. My students and their families come to our small elementary school from all over the globe. Our school is also a community gathering place used for events such as potlucks, community meetings, recreation, and other social events.
I teach 40 curious and energetic second-grade students!
In fact, more than half of my students speak two or more languages! My students' love for learning is contagious. We truly are a community of diverse learners.
My Project
The second-grade classroom is usually a busy, hands-on learning environment. This time of year, we study plants and pollinators and move our learning outside. Due to the current need for remote learning, my second graders are spending hours every day on their computers. I want to find ways for them to be more active while learning.
The snow has melted and the sun is shining.
Spring is the perfect time of year to shift learning outside. With journals, pencils, and crayons in hand, my second graders will have what they need to get outside and journal.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
