My Students

Some of my students have a difficult time finding food everyday to eat let alone have access to technology. This could be your chance to spark some minds and put smiles on my students faces!

I work in a school where more than 70% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches.

Many of my students live in foster care and are trying to keep up in a technology driven society with very few tools for their use. An iPad will engage my students and make learning fun. It will also provide them with the necessary tech-knowledge to compete in our tech-driven world.

My Project

My students will be using the iPad to play interactive learning games and activities for mathematics and literacy. We have an out-dated SMARTboard in our room which only works half the time we try to use it. When the SMARTboard doesn't work I can see the disappointment on their little faces. When it works, their eyes light up when they get to use their "magic finger" to roll the dice for math or "tap" to reveal their sight word for reading. Watching the joy on their faces makes everyday I see them enjoyable!

My students will be beyond thrilled to have something as cool as an iPad in the classroom.

They will be able to keep up in our technology-driven society when schools are lacking funds to provide needed materials. Our state adopted the Common Core Standards where assessments are all online and the standards are built around technology use in the classroom. My students go home to bleak situations but will enjoy going to class everyday to be able to use their class iPad!
