Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my classroom are go getters. They enjoy technology, lessons that may be difficult, hands on activities, legos... anything that gets their brains working and thinking outside the box. Anytime I introduce a lesson, their question is, "Can we do a harder one?" or "Give us a difficult one Mrs. Mcfarland." They are all about taking it to the next level.
They want to learn, they want to be better and they want to teach their younger siblings what they know.
My Project
Since the recent hurricane here in Houston, Texas, our school has received a number of students displaced who lost everything. Our school has graciously accepted any student into our environment no matter what district they were displaced from.
My students are begging for tablets and technology items because they lost everything in the hurricane.
As a teacher, I want to help them in every way possible; helping them includes brightening their happiness. My students would be delighted to see iPads in our classroom. It would make it exciting for them to learn and understand through educational apps and games. I plan to use these iPads during my reading and math station time. Students enjoy stations to help reinforce past learning experiences and to gain new information on current learning situations. We would like to be able to use games like I-station for reading, and Dreambox for math to help my students advance their reading levels and addition and subtraction facts. Our low income district does a very good job of making sure we have the resources that we need, but in this century our students are very technologically driven. These iPads would be the cherry on top of a so far very difficult school year.
The cases for the iPads are to make sure that they stay in mint condition. Second graders are responsible but they do drop things often and have accidents. Just so they stay in tip top shape for years to come I would also like cases for the tablets
