This space provides students with a safe and supportive environment to regulate their emotions, practice mindfulness, and recharge before returning to their work. \r\n\r\nThe moment the students saw the calming corner for the first time, their excitement and curiosity were contagious. One student said, \"This is my safe place\r\n!\" They've quickly learned to use the tools provided, like sensory bottles, fidget items, and breathing cards, to manage their feelings independently. \r\n\r\nOne specific moment that stands out was when a student, who often struggles with frustration, chose to use the calming corner after a challenging task. They spent a few minutes using a weighted lap pad and practicing deep breathing. When they returned to their desk, they were calm, focused, and ready to re-engage. \r\n\r\nOur next steps involve teaching students more strategies for emotional regulation using the calming corner. We'll also be integrating lessons from the Zones of Regulation curriculum to help them recognize and address their feelings proactively. \r\n\r\nYour support has created a space that truly makes a difference in our students' emotional well-being and learning.
