Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The Digital Age is upon us, our daily routines are infused and reliant on technology. Web pages, blogs, e-mails, and Word documents are the main venues of communicating through writing in the 21st Century.

I teach 6th grade students at an inner-city school.

My class is comprised of Hispanic and African-American students who are struggling to meet grade level standards. With that said, all of my students are caring individuals who just need additional support to help them realize their potential to be successful. Approximately half of my students don't have access to a computer at their residence, and therefore are at a disadvantage in today's society.

My Project

Imagine allowing students to have a virtual learning journal. The flash drive becomes a place to store web pages for research, to save notes on projects, and to draft essays and reports. The flash drive allows continuous learning from classroom to computer lab to library to home. Each student will keep the flash drive to continue the habits of learning they developed during this project.

This project will instill life long habits of compiling learning documents, notes, and journals in class.

As future college students, the use of technology for learning and classroom success is now a necessity not a luxury. Your support to help us will be greatly appreciated.
