My students need an IPad, Osmo materials, and a Breakout kit to learn skills that will prepare them for the 21st Century.

My Students

My first grade students come from greatly varied home lives with many unable to have access to technology at home. My job is prepare them with 21st Century skills despite the socioeconomic disadvantage many of them are experiencing in their lives.

Every student in our district receives free lunch because of our district's socioeconomic status and an outside group provides free backpack food for the weekends for many of our students.

I need to help these students be prepared for the future despite this status.

My Project

My students are obsessed with technology. Why not use this obsession to our benefit? We will use the IPad to build critical thinking skills and increase students ability to work as a team, as well as practice every day skills in a fun and exciting way.

90% of the jobs my current students will be employed in have not yet been created.

I need to prepare these students for jobs that I can't even fathom. The best way to do this is through modern technology and team building. All of the materials I have asked for will do these things and more.

Osmo is a great way to practice everyday skills like numbers and reading while extending learning to include higher level skills such as coding. Breakout materials are one of the best ways to practice team building skills. I think any employer would be happy to know we are working on these things early in life!
