My students need the adjustable stools, tables, and other various seating materials in order to colloborate with their peers in a way that makes them feel successful and unique.
Remember when libraries consisted of plain white walls and rows of boring brown shelves? Me too! I am determined to liven up the look and the image of our Media Center so that it becomes a place students want to be!
I dream of creating a space that’s warm and inviting.
A place where students can colloborate, create, and explore all that a 21st century library has to offer.
As the Media Specialist of a Title 1 School, I teach more than 800 students from very low economic backgrounds. Despite the hardships they face, my students are hardworking, caring children and they deserve a place that is warm and inviting where they can further their love of reading and inquiry.
My Project
Students are more productive when they are in an environment where they feel comfortable. Flexible seating will give my students the opportunity to make choices that are conducive to their personal learning and enable them to effectively colloborate with their peers. The seating materials will not only liven up the Media Center, but they will make my students feel special.
The stools, tables, and ottomans will have my older students feeling like they have a special, modern space that is made just for them, and the teepee playhouse will allow my younger students to use their imagination and grow as thinkers and dreamers.
With these materials my students will be able to relax, explore, inquire, and colloborate in a space that feels modern, unique, and all their own.
