My Students

What makes a great citizen? A person who knows the challenges we face in a community and is motivated to make a change for the better.

I teach fourth grade students at Sterling Elementary.

The students are mostly on free or reduced lunch. We serve a culturally diverse population of students. Due to their diverse backgrounds, they struggle in all subject areas. We are trying to provide our students with character traits that will in the future make them caring citizens and leaders in our community through 21st century learning.

My Project

Time for Kids and Scholastic Magazine focus on issues in the real world from a students' point of view. This will give them the opportunity to learn about people and communities around the world, discuss issues, and express their views on how events affect their lives.

This will give them the opportunity to learn about people and communities around the world, discuss issues, and express their views on how events affect their lives.

Through their reading and discussion they will be empathetic to hardships people face, motivated to take part in community issues, and inspired to be great citizens.
