This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school in New York City where all of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Our students live within the poverty line where parents can barely provide basic needs. As a result, technology in the home is non-existent. Despite their difficult lives, students are eager and willing to learn. They are excited to come to school where they feel safe.
When you walk into my classroom, you will see enthusiastic, creative, curious and spunky kindergartners actively engaged in their learning.
They welcome the challenging tasks and persevere through them.
My Project
iPads are a powerful, versatile and valuable learning tool for my 21st-century learners. This multipurpose learning tool will appeal to all types of learners, especially the ones with learning disabilities. There are all sorts of educational apps for the iPad that would allow my students to work and excel at their own pace making learning a lot more effective for everyone. With the use of educational apps such as Dooble Buddy, my students will be able to practice math facts, create digital artwork, work on handwriting and sight word recognition.
The iPads will give my students access to a world beyond the classroom.
iPads will allow my students to travel to just about anywhere in the world on a “virtual field trip”. They can speak with experts, experience other cultures, make friends in various countries, and visit all sorts of places without ever leaving the classroom.
