Ms. Gladys Pasapera from New York NY is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students the opportunity to expand their Art career readiness through 21st century learning skills. Ideally, I'm working toward obtaining 5 ipads by September 2019 to incorporate Stop Animation, iMovie editing, and digital artmaking.

Sometimes, you walk into my classroom and they are silently writing or drawing, other times it's so loud you can't hear the person next to you... it's organized chaos!! And we LOVE every minute of it. They're learning and thinking outside the box every day. I love it when they tell me "Miss, your class is hard. I thought it was just painting or drawing something nice."
My favorite moment is when the students overcome their "I can't draw" phase of avoiding a challenge.
Once they realize that it's not a drawing class, the fear turns into exploration and experimentation.
I have inherited a fully stocked art room with traditional artmaking materials for grades 9-12. How can I engage this tech generation with just pencils, paper, brushes, and paint? What if we combined our artmaking skills with 21st Century digital literacy skills? How can I facilitate their already inquisitive and digitally curious brains with art and activism themes? How can we expand our thoughts for improving the world we live in through Design Thinking? A start would be to have access to technology in the art classroom. Having 2 iPads is a start, ideally having an iPad cart for my classroom would allow for full student engagement. I am requesting 2 for now and 1 drying rack to help store large paper drawings and paintings.
