I teach second grade in Washington State. My students range from average range to English language learners, to special needs students. On a continuum of reading and language, my students range from readers to non-readers.

Students today are surrounded by electronics and technology. Everywhere they look, it is a part of their daily lives. It has become as common place as the book. Learning to be a solid, active listener in a conversation or learning situation can be a challenge today. MP3 players are a fantastic solution to this situation.

With MP3 players, students will be allowed to listen to stories and podcasts that focus only on the art of listening. Conversations can ensue from those listening sessions to teach the critical skills of listening.

Your support of this project will make it possible for my students to begin learning to be better listeners. This will ensure their success as learners in school, as well as, the work place when the opportunity to be productive citizens arrives.
