Help me give my students healthy snacks and juice to enable them to keep up their energy, stay focus, and be motivated to learn.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I serve students with different areas of disabilities ranging from autism to specific learning disabilities. They have the desire to learn but are sometimes impeded by their circumstances. Their learning is often hindered by different obstacles in the home. They are from low income families and sometimes depend on breakfast from the school cafeteria. Most of them are from households where nutritious food is limited or absent. If they missed breakfast because they were late, or for any other reasons, they will not eat until lunchtime. They are hungry, and therefore unmotivated to learn. My goal as their teacher is to make snacks available to them so they will not be hungry. Students cannot learn on empty stomachs. My students are capable of learning and becoming life-long learners, however, their social and economic status often becomes an obstruction. I believe in my students and know they have the ability and the potential to succeed academically. Providing them with healthy snacks will help fuel their energy throughout the school day and enhance their motivation for learning.
As a teacher, it is my goal to ensure that my students' needs, whether socially, physically or emotionally are met. Too often my students complain of being hungry and having stomach pains because they did not have the opportunity to have breakfast. They often lack motivation, not able to stay focused, and does not complete task. It is my desire to provide healthy snacks that will help them stay focused, attentive, and motivated. I also want them to be aware of the importance of eating healthy. Providing healthy snacks will help my students in maintaining their stamina in the classroom, and will motivate them to learn. As a teacher, I want to be able to provide my students with nutritious snacks that will be beneficial for their educational growth and development. I want my students to focus less on their hunger, and strive to enhance their learning, becoming the best they can be. It's my goal to create healthy minds that will enable my students to strive to be long-life learners.
