My Students

My students astound me each and every day with their thinking, learning, and talents. They have developed into students who love to learn and expand their knowledge.

Many students in my classroom come from an impoverished background, and my goal is to give them every opportunity to learn and be a successful student.

They are growing and learning each and every day. They are dreamers, thinkers, innovators, and leaders. They are an inspiration to themselves and those around them. They are budding specialists, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers... They are our future and I want to give them a great start.

My Project

The Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) is a state-wide competition that my students love to participate in. They will be reading each book that I have requested and will be required to dig deep into the text to able to answer comprehension and higher order thinking questions about the text.

Through this competition, I have watched my students become lovers of books and become engaged in their own learning.

With the multiple readings, students will develop their literacy skills, reading strategies, and their passion for reading.

OBOB is a powerful way to get students to want to read and help them develop into life-long learners and scholars
