Now that I can put \"fun chairs\" there students beg for a quiet place to rock while they work! It has been so fun to see how focused students can be and I have fun future plans to make more \"quiet nooks\" in the class for those who need time away from their table mates.\r\n\r\nHaving different seating options with clear rules of use has allowed students the agency to move around but has also provided me with much needed boundaries to curb unnecessary movement throughout the day, limiting chaos. My students have loved having new clipboards without writing on them and take pride in selecting their tool during independent work each day. I've already had so many conversations using these tools with our kinders, 1st and 2nd graders, and building/making new structures helps students feel a sense of accomplishment when we're done with our breaks.
