My students need series books! Every year students need to dive into amazing series books and every year I struggle to have enough series books at multiple levels.
My students are amazing learners who crave education and hands-on experiences. My students are neighborhood kids who represent the community of the school. My students are from culturally and linguistically diverse populations. They are attending an inner city public school, where too often there isn't funding to supply projects like these. Please donate and help create a better learning atmosphere for our students.
My students are Rockstars!
They are growing and learning in the same small, tight knit, school community that inspired me to be a teacher. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding ambassadors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers. They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their long successful career.
My Project
My first graders LOVE reading. In all my years of teaching I have never seen such admiration for reading. My project is all series books! I have chosen AKJ Books because I wanted as many series books as possible for my emergent readers. If we get this project funded, I will be able to have enough series books to keep students moving up in levels, interested in the work that they need to be ready for 2nd grade, cultivate their love of reading!
Sometimes I have to have our library supplement their reading but they are only allowed one book every two weeks.
Often I have to tell them to read something else in their book bin, much to their dismay. At this age, readers are devouring books! I need way more books to keep up!
