Students have been using them during indoor recess and when they have earned a free time due to good behavior and classwork completion. Students are also able to take breaks during class time to engage with the games you bought us. The games engage their minds in positive ways, and when they play together, they learn valuable social skills.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, students are off their computers! Rather than rewarding students with computer games, students get to play games that use more of their minds instead of just giving visual stimulation. I'm happy to report that students are using the academic games, such as Prime Climb, which increase their understanding of the concepts of prime numbers, factors, and multiples. \r\n\r\nFinally, parents have expressed appreciation for allowing students to play these board games rather then spending more time on the computer. One of the first-grade teachers used the art lesson for a letter-writing exercise and gave the letters to me to share with you on the photo page. I can only post a few, but they are all so cute. The students loved all the colors of yarn and they were proud of being able to make a colorful artwork that they could give as a gift or hang on their wall. \r\n\r\nAnd we are only just getting started. At this end of the fall semester, third- and fourth-grade students will embroider designs that they create (I am including a photo of the burlap squares that are being prepared; three family volunteers have been kind enough to come in and help cut the burlap and line the edges with glue so they don't fray once they are taken out of the hoops), and during the spring semester all remaining grades will weave on hand looms and large community looms. Fifth-grade students will also embroider into paper when we learn about artist Pacita Abad. \r\n\r\nI wish all of you could see the artwork as it goes up during the remainder of the school year; our halls and classrooms will soon be full of projects made with supplies from your kind donation!","fullyFundedDate":1759109073631,"projectUrl":"project/slowing-down-fiber-arts-in-the-classroo/9560940/","projectTitle":"Slowing Down: Fiber Arts in the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McAvoy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2969800_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1501768166162","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/e-mcavoy"},{"teacherId":9906220,"projectId":9102663,"letterContent":"On behalf of our entire classroom community, I want to express our deepest gratitude for your generous donation of the Wireless Party Speaker, Rhythm Band Elementary Latin Music Set, Gift Card for Educational Resources on TPT, and the \"A Little SPOT of Emotion\" 8 Plush Toys with Feelings Book Box Set.\r\n\r\nThese resources have made a tremendous impact in our classroom, which serves students with a variety of special needs, including Down syndrome, hearing impairments, and learning disabilities. Your support has directly enhanced our ability to create an inclusive, engaging, and emotionally supportive learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe music materials—especially the speaker and instrument set—have been a game changer. Music plays a vital role in our curriculum, not only as a form of expression and creativity but also as a proven tool to improve motor skills, emotional regulation, and social interaction for our students. Seeing our students light up with joy during music sessions, using the instruments to express themselves and connect with peers, has been truly heartwarming.\r\n\r\nThe TPT gift card allowed us to access high-quality educational resources, worksheets, and activities that are tailored to the diverse learning styles and needs of our students. These materials have helped us differentiate instruction and ensure that each student is engaged and supported in their learning journey.\r\n\r\nThe \"A Little SPOT of Emotion\" plush toy and book set has become a beloved part of our social-emotional learning program. These tools make abstract emotional concepts more concrete and accessible for our students. They help our learners identify and talk about their feelings in a way that feels safe, fun, and empowering.\r\n\r\nFinally, incorporating American Sign Language (ASL) into our curriculum has been a crucial step toward building a truly inclusive classroom. Your support allows us to create multisensory experiences where all students—regardless of communication ability—can fully participate, express themselves, and form deeper connections with others.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our classroom is not just a place of learning—it's a place of belonging, joy, and growth.
