Gentle, intelligent, motivated, and inspiring...these are just a few words to describe my first-graders. I teach at a Title I, low-income school. More than half of my class are English Language Learners. My students come from all over the world. I have students from Guatemala, Mexico, India, China, and Eritrea! Even though they all have unique backgrounds and experiences, they all have a right to learn. I have a homeroom class that I teach most of the day. I also team-teach with another teacher in first-grade. I teach writing to both classes. My students are extremely compassionate and caring towards each other. They go out of their way to make new friends feel welcome in our classroom.

No matter what they bring to my class, they are valued and loved. First-graders have an abundance of energy and positive attitudes. They make me a better teacher every day with their bright smiles and their eagerness to learn something new. I could not be more proud of the students I teach.
My Project
My students will use the Kindle Fire Tablet Cases with the Kindle Fire Tablets to practice reading and writing skills. Students will use the tablets during Reading and Writing workshop to learn phonics, comprehension, fluency, and grammar. They will use apps such as EPIC, Teach Your Monster to Read, and Duck Duck Moose Reading.
These cases will protect the Kindle Fire Tablets so that many students can use them for years to come.
My students will be able to use the Kindle Fire Tablets independently with these cases. This will help me to reach more students through small group and one-on-one instruction.
