Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a Title I school where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. All of the students were provided with all necessary school supplies, as well as dentist and eye exams.

My students come to school every day, eager to learn and succeed, despite the struggles they face out of school.

My students are thankful and appreciative of any of the supplies or actives we do within the classroom, and they deserve to have the best hands-on learning experience ever.

My students learn best in an environment they feel safe and comfortable in. With returning to school after traumas from this last year and a half, my students NEED to have hands-on activities focused on their social/emotional needs. For most of my students, this is the first time they are in a classroom setting and are struggling with the high expectations, rigor, and routines throughout the day. Introducing Morning Tubs during our morning indoor recess time, students will be engaged with hands-on learning activities that are low stress and confidence building. This will provide students with an opportunity to look forward to coming into school every morning, and will hopefully decrease our truancies.

My Project

Our 1st grade students have NEVER experienced the magic of the 100th day of school, in person. This is a day worth celebrating, especially during these unprecedented times. Our students have shown up to school, ready to learn, through some of the most difficult times all while experiencing personal trauma in their own personal lives. As a grade level, we want to transform our classrooms into a top spy set, to make the 100th day of school the BEST day ever for our students, as this is truly a milestone worth celebrating.
