Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are part of a low-income community, and most of their families are field workers. The majority are English language learners who are working towards obtaining English reading proficiency. Living in the east part of Salinas has automatically labeled them as under-educated.

All students have potential.

The key is to offer them learning opportunities that will motivate them to achieve high educational goals. Our future generation needs a push, and we are the ones to offer them this opportunity.

My Project

We have been learning in person for about five months even though we are still struggling with keeping schools open.

Believe it or not, the 100th school day is around the corner and we owe it to our students to celebrate the fact that they are showing up to class eager to learn.

There is no doubt the 2021-2022 school year has been unique. Our community is seeing higher Covid numbers, but we are still taking safety precautions to keep our schools open. Our students have been coming to school eager to learn and happy to see their friends. This 100th school day needs to be a celebration of their effort and motivation to continue, so I am requesting decorations, pencils, and stickers.
