Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I always tell my students that they're unicorns. "Why?" they ask. I tell them that they are unique individuals. I always tell them, don't be afraid to be unique, silly and always be yourself. It is important to instill confidence in my students since they are English Language Learners.
My students are faced with many everyday challenges by living in a border town.
Living in this small town means that most of their families are separated by the hardships of the US/Mexican border.
We are a dual language school, which means that most of our students only speak their home language and have to learn English. I try to provide meaningful learning experiences by giving my students an equal opportunity to be successful. I provide hands-on activities that makes students want to come to school and learn.
My Project
Have you ever been in math class and always watched the clock, trying to make time go faster? I always had that experience because math was just not fun.
We need tablets, cards, dice to be able to become successful mathematicians in 4th Grade by making games using those materials.
I want to make math class fun for my students by incorporating fun, hands-on activities.
I will be using Daily 3, which includes: Math by myself-students will use the Fire tablet to practice multiplication facts. Writing in math-students will use the requested notebooks to practice writing, answering and drawing math problems. Math with Someone-students will be using the requested dice and cards to play games. All these activities will build mathematical foundations for students to become successful in math, while making it fun!
