My Project

Sequencing skills are an integral part of our lives and many of us do not even think about it. Tackling to-do lists, providing instructions, and following directions are all examples of ways we might use sequencing skills in our everyday lives. However, many children struggle with the ability to describe sequences and develop their own oral narratives about the activities in their lives.

Evidence shows that explicit instruction in sequencing and oral narratives improves children's overall confidence and ability to participate in narrative-based activities.

This project includes sequencing cards containing picture scenes that are relevant to the lives of my students. The sequencing cards can be adapted to make connections to students' personal lives and assist them with developing their own oral narratives. The project also includes several hands-on activities to allow students to practice giving and following multi-step directions using their listening comprehension skills.
