My students need A REAL LIFE experience and what better way than to take a field trip to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, History Museum, and Legislative Building?

My Students

Do you remember taking a field trip to the fire station? Or how about to the local grocery store? I am sure it is still a part of your memory, because field trips are experiences that last a life time.

My students come from a very transit location.

We are a title one school, which means more than 90% of our students are on free or reduced meals. Their homes are not rich with incentives for them to learn. Each home strives to make it through each day. Our school also serves military children. We have businesses all around us and all of our students either ride the school bus or are dropped off by their parents or daycare. This past year our students were able to make all state standards and made high growth in testing. Our children are eager to learn with the limited amount of resources to which they have access.

My Project

Teachers battle the computer games daily. Taking field trips help to provide an enriched high interest real life learning experience. The field trip will actively engage my children into learning about animals and natural resources by allowing the children to see, feel, and hear the sounds animals make and see their habitats up close and personal as opposed to being read in a story. Some of our children have never seen a live animal or even have been to the local mall. The field trip to the Museum of Natural Sciences will help our students to reach the high expectations we have for them.

Taking a field trip will provide a REAL LIFE experience that will last a life time for our students.

Research shows anytime you can provide hands on high interest materials will provide an active engagement for learning. Your donation will bring about a REAL LIFE experience and you will make a difference in a child's life that will last a life time that without this field trip might not otherwise occur.
