My Students

We love incorporating technology into our art classes, but it is expensive! We are launching a new class called Filmmaking. This class will teach how to watch films, write storyboards, create sets, film the stories written in class, edit them for viewing, and finally critique others' work.

Our students are very diverse, and we love it!

Art is the perfect outlet for all of them to express themselves. We are trying to launch a new class for them to have as an elective, Filmmaking. This is the perfect class for the student that loves to write, analyze, and create movies. They will be given the opportunity to work independently and in groups, take part in a variety of roles, and many other activities that will develop their individuality and self-expression. They are very excited about this new class but know that without the supplies we may not be able to launch it. The level of technology needed for it is exciting to them because they will be able to learn so many new skills. Unfortunately, we will not be able to get all of the equipment needed on our department budget.

My Project

"The earth without art is just eh." My students love this quote. They all benefit from having an art class for their creative expression. To help launch this class we need three external hard drives. Our school has a limited amount of electives for them to choose and by creating this new class they will have another choice that will strengthen their technology skills, prepare them for a work environment, and be a fun outlet at the same time. Filmmaking is one of the most popular art forms in the world. It is one that almost everyone partakes in. Getting to be on the other side of the camera for this art form is an opportunity that may only happen once for our students, but will change the way that they watch films for their entire lives.

This class is designed to guide students to a more meaningful perspective on filmmaking, its history, its impact on contemporary culture, and how to use filmmaking as a creative outlet.

This course will be part of the High School Visual Arts Core Curriculum. It is designed to provide an overview and introduction to the four most basic phases of filmmaking: Development, Pre-Production, Production, and Post-Production. This course covers higher-level thinking skills and art-related technology.
