Reading: What Is It All About?

My students need three bean bags and some beans to fill two donated bean bags for hanging when reading during their time in library.

My Students

"A library book, I imagine, is a happy book." Cornelia Funke said, and my students are very happy to be part of this book every chance they can get.

My students are all those who attend my middle school.

Most of my students are ready to select or ask for the next book to read. Not all my kiddos are right in there finding that book, but with our help, we are creating an environment to make it a positive experience. Our school achieved Standards of Excellence this year for Reading. I feel strongly that the library is the invitation to help open their willingness to venture into new worlds.

My Project

With these bean bags added to our library reading area, it would add excitement for my middle school kids. They love to come into the library and use the donated, deflated bean bags, along with a few gaming chairs. What additional bean bags will do is allow a few more kids to have the "fun" aspect with a good attitude to hang and read. To see those 12-13 year-old students come into the library and find new bean bags... wow, their exclamations and expressions, priceless.

With money cuts as they have been, to ask for bean bags would seem quite frivolous in spending.

But, the joy of seeing my kids excited to sit in new bean bags, priceless. I would go on and on about them being donated because "these donors" get it. I would hope to instill a pay it forward to what we can also do for others to make a better day. This is something for my kids to use everyday, not a teaching tool by me but a sitting tool to read a book for them. They would love it, no kidding.
