This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love to work math problems on large whiteboards and then present what they did to their classmates. I created the large whiteboards with my personal money and then bought about one hundred dry erase markers and a few erasers. Unfortunately, the dry erase markers are starting to dry out.

My students come from a high poverty area.

They are incredibly bright and love to show what they create. They have dreams of being doctors, lawyers and accountants. They dream of making something of their lives and understand what it takes to get to college and succeed. They have incredible values and are full of integrity. Everyday they teach me something about my life, something that tends to surprise me.

My Project

I created large white boards with materials from home depot. The dry erase markers for the boards tend to get rather expensive unfortunately. I buy about 5-6 markers per day from my personal salary and simply can not afford to purchase markers and erasers anymore. My students feel neglected when the markers run out and they do not get replaced. I am asking for 18 kits of dry erase markers and erasers for my students to use on their white boards.

My students really enjoy learning math by working out problems and demonstrating what they did.

The large whiteboards make this happen. Unfortunately, not having the rest of the needed supplies makes this difficult to accomplish on a day to day basis.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
