My Students

Help make learning and problem solving fun! Learning becomes a lot more fun when you are able to do it in the context of building bridges.

My students come from an urban district in Ohio.

They can be a hard crew to reach, but once they get hooked they can achieve anything that they put their minds to! The kids are hard working and love to make things, and they learn by working on projects & activities. They are great kids and really appreciate all of the help and extra resources that they can get.

My Project

The k'nex bridge building kit will tie together geometry, problem solving, and engineering for kids who have not necessarily had the chance to do so before. We are going to work on a unit where we study bridge design, strength of materials, and problem solving. The smaller activities will lead up to a large bridge building competition between all of the groups. The bridge building kit supplies the materials for the bridges and it is great because it can be reused year after year! The activity will help to teach math, problem solving, engineering skills, and team work. All of these skills are vital for high school graduates to have acquired before they go out into the real world.

Please help us to get the kit that we need to be able to build out bridges and work on this unit.

A donation to this project will not only help kids right now, but will help kids that will come through the course for years to come. We really appreciate your support and generosity!
