My Students

Our students' families don't have the resources and money to buy toys and materials to play with. They are from low income families and they just don't get what they need at this important stage in their life. Preschool is a very crucial time for kids to learn and to get a lot of new experiences.

I teach in a Special Needs School in Iowa that serves Head Start students and special needs students PreK-8th Grade.

I work in a full inclusion classroom of Head Start students, low income students and special needs students. They are all at risk and don't have a lot of toys and materials to interact with. Most of their parents do not have the money to buy their kids toys and materials needed for them to meet their fullest potential. I feel if I can help provide some new and different materials to this class, I can help these kids gain new experiences, gain social skills, and learn new skills that will help them to have positive experiences in school and help them to become good learners in school and help them meet their fullest potential.

My Project

My students need more manipulatives to explore with, dolls & babies to role play with, and different toys to play in the block center with. By getting these materials, my students will have more materials to interact with, explore with, and learn from. It will give my students more opportunities to have different and interesting materials to play with. It is important to change materials often and by receiving these materials I will give my students a wide variety of materials to learn from. I have 20 kids and we often run short on materials. It will also help teach language skills, fine motor skills, social skills and learning to share and take turns, and help them to gain academic skills. The kids would really love these materials and would definitely put them to good use.

You will make a huge impact on my students if you support this project.

My students will gain many important skills that will help them to be successful learners. It will give these kids more opportunities to learn that will help them to become successful learners that will hopefully in turn help them in becoming productive adults. Preschool is a crucial time for kids to learn. It is the time you can really make a difference and help kids meet their fullest potential. Thank you!
