My students need a color printer so that I can make eye-catching Library displays!

My Students

Elementary students are particularly drawn to visual advertising, and I want to advertise our great collection of books! I want to capture their eyes as they roam aimlessly through our library but unfortunately, I do not have access to a color printer.

I am the Librarian for 440 PreK-5th elementary magnet school students.

A high percentage of my students receive free and reduced lunch and come from low-income urban areas. Our school population is roughly 50% urban and 50% suburban, with many English Language Learners as well. Our school is proud to celebrate 10 years this Fall as a themed-school based on Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences. One of the multiple intelligences is a visual/spatial intelligence; as a way to help reach many of our visual students, I want to improve my library displays and signs, etc.

My Project

I want to welcome our students to the library with colorful and stunning signs and displays; I want to draw their attention to sections and resources. I want to visually appeal to their senses with the great collection of books we have. A wireless color printer will allow me to create vibrant messages to guide them through the library and it will help me to help my students become independent library patrons. A color printer will help me to brighten and liven our space, making it full of visual attractions. Students will be able to follow signs to the section of books they are seeking and just maybe, they will be drawn to visual displays of wonderful new books!

A color printer may seem like an odd request for a library, but this simple tool will help me to entice and encourage our students not only to independently search for what they are seeking, but also to discover an inviting and cheerful place which can open their worlds!

It is my wish to make our library a wonderful, magical place for every student to enjoy. This wish can be fulfilled with vivid displays, signs, messages, even posters! Please support my project for a printer!
