My Students

Can you imagine taking virtual trips to the grocery store, dentist's office or learning to read a book designed just for you? With interactive software, students are able to learn those things and more!

My students have intense special needs and participate in a Daily Living Skills program for grades k-5.

My students are curious and hardworking. They also have a great sense of humor and appreciate the little things in life. We are in a low-income, public school and often do not have the funds to take trips to places where students need to learn valuable skills such as shopping in the grocery store, reading menus and ordering food in restaurants and other places in the community. The students are often unable to do those things with their parents as well. My students are learning to read but have much difficulty. They enjoy books being read to them, but have trouble engaging in a book on their own.

My Project

The resources I am requesting will enable my students to learn those daily living skills in a fun and interactive way. They will be able to take what they learn from the software and apply it to things they will encounter now and later in life. The software is designed for students with special needs so it is not preschool software that is not interesting to students in fifth grade. The software also has interactive books so students can learn the joy of reading without having to be able to read. Many of my students will not be able to learn how to read the books that are age appropriate for them. Best of all, the software can be used on our interactive white board so that all students can access the programs, not just those who know how to use a keyboard or mouse!

This project will provide the students with skills that will enable them to live happy and successful lives.

This software will teach the children about things that are commonplace but often confusing to students with special needs. This project will provide them with a fun and engaging way to learn skills that will last a lifetime!
