My Students

This year I am incorporating literacy centers into my inclusion classroom’s daily schedule. My students love the center time. My challenge is to find materials that are interesting, yet support classroom instruction.

My students are very diverse, yet each one has a love of learning.

They are very supportive and helpful with each other. I am impressed as I watch them interact so productively together. On a daily basis I see how everyone can make a contribution to our lessons. The interactions that take place in my classroom make me strive to be a better teacher each and every day. Our school promotes the use of effective teaching strategies and the engagement of all learners in the learning process. We are a high poverty school and have limited funding for instructional supplies.

My Project

Our center time is the high point of my students' day. Since this is a new addition to my schedule, I am limited on activities. The literacy activities in this project will enhance our center time and will provide an interesting way to teach the required first grade skills of word and sentence making.

This project is so important because my class loves learning and deserves the best instructional support that I can provide.

I believe all students will make gains by practicing skills while helping each other to learn. This project will give my students an excellent learning opportunity.
