My Students

What is your favorite magazine? My husband loves his Astronomy and Sports Illustrated magazines and I like my Good Housekeeping magazine. My sons like their Scouting magazine. It's fun to get magazines in the mail. I want my students to receive a weekly magazine!

We live in a big city in Texas.

I teach fourth and fifth graders. I teach ESL students language arts, math, and social studies. All of my students have just moved to the United States from all over the world. We have an English immersion classroom. I have students from El Salvador, Spain, Vietnam, Mexico, and the Philippines. They need to learn a lot of English vocabulary. My students are very hard workers and are excited about learning English!

My Project

I am requesting a class set of Time For Kids, a weekly classroom magazine. The magazine will be fun because most of my students will never have had their own magazine before. It will motivate the students to read. The magazines offer a wide range of real world topics and themes. Time For Kids has great non-fiction pieces and will teach my students many literacy skills.

Your generous donation will give my students magazines to read in class.

I will be able to teach my students many new topics and English vocabulary words. Then, my students will be able to take the magazines home to reread for additional practice. You will give the greatest gift of all: the gift of literacy! My students and I will be grateful for your support and generosity. You will give each student a weekly gift!
