Smart Scientists Use Smart Board Slates!

My students need a SMART Wireless Slate to interact with the SMART Board and to efficiently and easily share their ideas with their peers.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like to go up to and write on the board with the whole class watching you? This can be quite intimidating for some of my students. A SMART Wireless Slate will allow them to share their work on our SMART Board without ever leaving their seats!

My students are bright, friendly, and hard working middle schoolers.

Many of my students come from disadvantaged backgrounds and every day I work hard to give them the foundation they need to find success in this world. Although my students are at an age in which they are easily engaged, I consistently face two universal "middle school" challenges with them: (1) chatter during lessons and (2) their worries that all eyes are on them, waiting for them to make a mistake. I believe that the addition of a SMART Wireless Slate to our classroom may solve both of these problems. The SMART Wireless Slate acts as a remote control for the SMART Board, and allows total use of the SMART Board from anywhere in the classroom.

My Project

I work very hard to engage my students in science each day, and anything relating to technology always works like a charm. Using the SMART Board during our lessons is always a great motivator, but it also means that I have to remain up at the board for most of the lesson. Not being able to circulate around the room unfortunately leads to off-task behavior and chatting during class time. With a SMART Wireless Slate, I could use the SMART Board to deliver lessons from anywhere in the classroom; next to a troublemaker or next to a child who needs extra support. This tool will strengthen my classroom management and will lead to more time on task for all of my students. An added benefit of the SMART Wireless SLATE is that students will be able to use it as well. I can target my students who are reluctant to go to the board to present their work. They could demonstrate their work on the SMART Board using the SMART Wireless Slate without ever leaving their seats.

A SMART Wireless Slate will make lessons portable for my students.

Using this incredible tool, they will be able to solve problems, draw scientific diagrams, and even complete a virtual frog dissection from their seats! Please give them the opportunity to use technology in a fun and educational way, especially in this age of electronic gadgets and gizmos. They deserve it!
