My Students

Do you remember creating book reports/projects using pencil, poster board, shoe boxes, etc.? Today as we compete with Video games and Ipods, students need more ways to express themselves and need the ability to include their creativity in their projects for school.

My school is one grade level, 6th grade only, and located in a rural area in North Carolina.

Our students come from five different elementary schools. There are approximately 450 students in my school and teachers have around 30 students in each class. I work with all 450 students in my building throughout the year, so all students would be able to use these pocket cameras to create projects.

My Project

My students often ask about being able to use the computers when creating projects and reports. My school has 15 core teachers and 6 elective teachers who schedule classes in one of the computer labs to use for lessons and activities. One of the labs is available as a flex lab all day and the other lab is only available for student use half days. It is very hard to schedule a day for student use in the lab. Having pocket video cameras available for use in my classroom will allow my students to work in small groups to create video book projects. Pocket video cameras for student use in my school, will inspire and motivate students. Students will be able to create video book reports, commercials, mock author interviews and many other creative projects to promote 21st Century learning in my school.

My students need 3 Pocket Camcorders to be able to create 21st Century projects.

Students often request being able to work in the computer lab while creating projects or being able to take pictures for their project. Having pocket camcorders will allow my students another choice when proposing project ideas.
